The Mall,
the national backyard, is the stretch of land between the Capitol
building and the Washington Monument. On both sides of the Mall stand
many of the 15 museums comprising the Smithsonian Institution. We
strongly recommend setting aside time to explore at least one of the
museums to make your trip to Washington, D.C. complete. All Smithsonian
museums are free of charge and open 10am-5:30pm every day except December
25. |

Georgetown

Georgetown
is an elegant residential neighborhood with many interesting boutiques,
specialty stores and restaurants. The center of the shopping area
is Wisconsin Avenue and 'M' Street, N.W. Visitors flock to this area,
even well into the night, to engage in window shopping and sightseeing.
The 18th and 19th century architecture and small gardens along the
surrounding residential streets make this one of the most charming
areas in Washington. We recommend Georgetown for an afternoon of shopping
and browsing or an evening of dining and entertainment at one of the
many restaurants or clubs. |

Morgan

Located along
18th Street and Columbia Road, N.W., this diverse community of various
ethnic groups was regarded as a slum just ten years ago. It is now
considered one of the most vibrant sections of the city and is well
known for a wide range of ethnic restaurants. Adams Morgan is home
to many reasonably priced restaurants, small art galleries, shops
and boutiques. One of Washington's largest street festivals, The Adams
Morgan Day, is held here each year on the second Sunday in
September.
