The International Law Institute is excited to partner with the Embassy of Uruguay and Dechert LL.P. for an event to celebrate the opening of the Academic Foundation of Uruguay.

The event is entitled, “Investment Arbitration, State Power to Regulate and the Most Relevant Experience of Latin American Countries.” Opening remarks will be given by H.E. Ambassador of Uruguay to the United States, Mr. Carlos Gianelli and Professor Don Wallace, Jr., Chairman of the International Law Institute and Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center.

Two panel discussions will explore the topic in-depth. The first will focus on a discussion of standards of investment protection and the new paradigms, while the second will share the experience of arbitral cases and new trends in the adoption of international obligations by sovereign States.
