MISSION

The mission of the IUCLS, a consortium of universities and think tanks in over 35 countries, is to contribute academically to the global effort to deal effectively with a broad range of topics including, human rights; ethnic, racial, and religious intolerance and violence; propoganda and information warfare; terrorism; genocide; and war crimes. Although interdisciplinary in its approach, IUCLS focuses on the relationship between the rule of lawand various issues under consideration.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the IUCLS if four-fold:

• monitor current and future threats to peace and security;
• develop response strategies on governmental and non-governmental levels;
  effect continual communications with policy-makers, academic institutions, business;
• media, and civil organizations; 
• sponsor research programs on selected critial issues and share the findings nationally and internationally

ABOUT

Established in March 1999 and located at the International Law Institute in Washington, D.C., the activities of the IUCLS are guided by an International Research Council that offers recommendations for research and study. The IUCLS also serves as a coordinating body for universities and think tanks throughout the world. It is affiliated with the International Center for Terrorism Studies at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, the Inter-University Center for Terrorism Studies, or IUCTS.
