	ILI Celebrates the 175th Anniversary of the Law Library of Congress
ILI commemorated the 175th anniversary of the Law Library of Congress, the world’s largest law library. In commemoration of the occasion, ILI’s Chairman, Professor Don Wallace, and Mr. David Stewart, a member of the Office of the Legal Adviser at the Department of State, co-presented a copy of the Digest of United States Practice in International Law for 2006 to Dr. Rubens Medina, the Law Librarian of Congress. The Digest, which is co-published annually by ILI and Oxford University Press, represents a commitment to provide practitioners, academics, and government officials with current information about the United States’ practice in the field of international law. This edition is the latest in a continuing tradition of excellence, which has been cited multiple times in Supreme Court opinions. Dr. Medina stated that the body of international law has been expanding rapidly: “The Law Library of Congress is committed to the expansion of a global network of international lawyers, as a means for strengthening the concepts of international law. We dedicate a great deal of attention to developments in international law. We want to put materials at the disposal of as many scholars as we can. We are grateful to the International Law Institute to have dedicated the most recent edition of the Digest to the Law Library of Congress, and are ready to show it to the world.” The event also served as a graduation celebration for a delegation of lawyers from Zhejiang, who had successfully completed their study on the US legal system and trade law.
