ILI, in close cooperation with the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the United States Indonesia Society, co-sponsored a symposium, Indonesia: Current Legal Reform, in April. This conference investigated current legal and political trends in Indonesian legal reform.

Since Indonesia’s re-emergence as a democracy in 1998, the country’s legal system has continually undergone dramatic transformations. Indonesia’s political leaders have declared their commitment to the rule of law and to democratization efforts.

Speakers included Rifyal Ka’bah, Justice of the Indonesian Supreme Court, Ricardo Simanjuntak, Attorney and President of the Indonesian Receiver and Administrator Association, and Adnan Buyung Nasution, Attorney and Advisor to President Yudhoyono, among other esteemed speakers.
