| Mauritius: Proclaims New Public Procurement Law |
|---|
The International Law Institute was asked by the government of Mauritius to assist in drafting the Mauritian Public Procurement Act and Draft Regulations. The Public Procurement Act was adopted by the Government of Mauritius in January, 2008. During the three year project, ILI was involved in assisting the government in developing policy, the training of government officials and the private sector, and the development of the necessary tools to fulfill the requirements of the law. Part of the Public Procurement Act required the government to create a Public Procurement Office, a Central Procurement Board, and an Independent Review Panel. The ILI trained more than 200 government officials in several sessions including procurement training, electronic government procurement training, and training of trainers. The International Law Institute congratulates the government of Mauritius for implementing the new Public Procurement Act. |
