ILI commemorated the 175th anniversary of the Law Library of Congress, the world’s largest law library. In commemoration of the occasion, ILI’s Chairman, Professor Don Wallace, and Mr. David Stewart, a member of the Office of the Legal Adviser at the Department of State, co-presented a copy of the Digest of United States Practice in International Law for 2006 to Dr. Rubens Medina, the Law Librarian of Congress.

Lilia Bautista, an alumna of the first course ever presented by ILI, was recently named to the WTO Appellate Body, which arbitrates appeals brought by WTO members. Each member is elected for a four year term and “…is required to be a person of recognized authority, with demonstrated expertise in law, international trade and the subject-matter of the covered agreements generally,” according to the WTO website.
