2009 Summer Orientation Program

The International Law Institute (ILI) is hosting the 39th annual Orientation in the U.S. Legal System program this summer. The program is designed to expose foreign attorneys and upcoming LLM students to the American Legal System.  Participants are introduced to the U.S. legal method and process, central U.S. judicial doctrines and the basic research skills needed in the study of U.S. law and for communicating with U.S. colleagues and clients. There are also many opportunities to meet lawyers from the private and public sectors and see the practice and administration of law through observations at court.

The three components of the summer program are aimed at improving the participants’ legal skills and understanding of the U.S. judicial system. It prepares those who are unfamiliar with American legal practice to do business, interact with U.S. attorneys, and study law in the United States.
