Training in Uganda

ILI-ACLE offers a dynamic annual training calendar in various aspects of law, commerce, governance, financial transactions and communications, which is presented in Kampala, Uganda. Upon request, the Institute also tailors special programs for governments, funding agencies and other organizations, local and international. Training programs have been held in Rwanda, Zambia, Kenya, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and this year, two seminars will held in China.

The seminars offered by the Centre are of the same calibre that has distinguished those held at the Institute's headquarters in Washington, D.C. for many years and are taught by ILl faculty, drawn largely from the United States, Europe, and Africa. Seminar presentations and materials at the Centre are oriented more towards African conditions than is possible in the Washington programs, which are attended by participants from all regions of the world.

If you wish to join us for any of the seminars offered this year, please see the Admissions page for application information. Applicants in Uganda should contact the Institute for details on how to apply.

Training in China

As part of its 10th anniversary, ILI-ACLE, in partnership with Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) in China, is facilitating two seminars geared toward senior to high level government managers from the African region. China has made great strides toward transitioning to a global economy with a rapidly growing private sector, and has become one of the largest economies in the world today. Given its progress, China may provide valuable lessons to other nations striving to reach that same goal. The purpose of the seminars is for Africa to share knowledge and learn from the experiences of China on how to optimize opportunities in the global market, and to frame prospects for Africa-Sino relations. The two seminars offered in 2007are:

  1. Increasing Africa’s Trade Competitiveness: Lessons from China and
  2. Curbing Money Laundering and Corruption Eradication – The Link to Increase Economic Development: A Study of the Hong Kong and Macau Model

Both seminars will run simultaneously from November 5-16, 2007. Early applications are encouraged.

The programme will also include a trip to Mainland China for purposes of a field study and tours. For more information on this training, please contact the institute.
