On June 4, 2025, the International Law Institute was pleased to host the ASEAN: Global Stability, Democratic Governance, and Legal Cooperation delegation sponsored by the International Visitor Leadership Program through the U.S. Department of State.
The focus of the delegation’s meetings was to examine principles of international law and how multilateral organizations manage regional challenges, negotiate treaties, and promote democratic engagement. Additionally, we discussed innovative management strategies in economic development and integrating strategic planning with new technologies and public-private partnership to achieve sustainable development goals.
Representing the U.S. Dept of State, International Visitor Leadership Program was Marc Fallow, International Visitor Liaison, and Juliana Jularic-Beekman, International Visitor Liaison.
The delegation consisted of Tekngy Hak, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cambodia; Sopagna Seng, General Department of Customs and Excise, Cambodia; Yulizar Tawil, Lecturer, Tadulako University, Indonesia; Vilaysak Phandanouvong, National Assembly of Laos; Jo Dann Darong, Department for Trade and Industry, Philippines; Badrulhafiz Sulaiman, Ministry of Home Affairs, Malaysia; George Ortha, Office of Solicitor General, Philippines; and Anursorn Chaiaksornwet, Acting Head of International Relations Department Walailak University.
