The International Law Institute (ILI) has joined the Legal Reform Advisory Board (LRAB) of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Digital Standards Initiative (DSI), strengthening ILI’s engagement in global efforts to advance the legal frameworks supporting digital trade.
ILI Director of Law Reform Programs Dr. Marek Dubovec will serve as the Institute’s designated representative on the Board, with ILI Senior Advisor Bob Trojan participating as an observer.
Launched in 2020 by the ICC in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the Government of Singapore, the DSI works to promote greater consistency in the legal, technical, and institutional foundations of digital trade. The initiative brings together governments, international organizations, industry groups, and other stakeholders working to address barriers to the wider adoption of digital trade practices.
The LRAB provides a forum for organizations with relevant expertise to coordinate legal reform efforts and help address regulatory barriers to the digitalization of international trade.
Through its participation, ILI will contribute its expertise in private international law, with particular attention to the legal challenges that arise when electronic transferable records are used across jurisdictions with differing domestic legal frameworks.
