The International Law Institute (ILI) was pleased to participate in the 9th International Conference on the Coordination of Secured Transaction Reform, held September 21-22 in London under the theme “Scaling Access to Finance Through Law, Policy, Digitalization and Investment.”
The conference brought together leading international organizations, policymakers, legal experts, and development professionals to examine how modern secured transactions frameworks can expand access to finance and support economic development.
Dr. Marek Dubovec, ILI’s Director of Law Reform Programs, moderated the “Factoring and Supply Chain Finance” panel and participated in the “Focus on Africa” session. During the Africa-focused discussion, Dubovec highlighted ILI’s ongoing work across the continent, including legal assessments, legislative drafting, and initiatives focused on agricultural finance.
ILI Senior Advisor Bob Trojan participated in the Concluding Roundtable, which brought together conference participants to reflect on the discussions and establish parameters for the way forward, including plans for a future conference.
The conference is an initiative of the Joint Network for Coordinating and Supporting Secured Transactions Reforms (Joint Network), which seeks to facilitate the modernization and enhancement of secured transactions frameworks, particularly through the adoption and implementation of international standards.
ILI is a proud member of the Joint Network’s Executive Committee along with UNIDROIT – International Institute for the Unification of Private Law, UNCITRAL – United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, and World Bank Group (WBG)/International Finance Corporation (IFC).
