International Law Institute appoints Dr. Julie Taylor as Executive Director

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. The International Law Institute (ILI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Taylor, Ph.D., as its new Executive Director. Dr. Taylor brings extensive leadership experience in international education, research, institutional advancement, and international relations, positioning her to lead ILI into its next chapter of growth and impact.

Dr. Taylor brings deep expertise in policy, strategy, and business development, along with a strong academic and professional background. As ILI expands its global engagement, her ability to build collaborative networks will be instrumental in advancing its mission to strengthen legal and institutional capacity worldwide.

“Julie’s broad gauge and deep experience make her ideal to create our next chapter at ILI,” said Prof. Don Wallace, Chairman of the ILI Board of Directors.

Stuart Kerr, President and former Executive Director of ILI, shared, “ILI is pleased to welcome Dr. Julie Taylor as ILI’s new Executive Director. Her broad and deep leadership experience in international education, international relations, and policy, as well as her wide network, will benefit ILI greatly in this new era of international development.”

Dr. Taylor joins ILI with a distinguished career spanning academia, international education, and global engagement. Prior to joining ILI, she served as Senior Director of Academic Relations for the Fulbright Program at the Institute of International Education (IIE) where she strengthened international partnerships and research innovation through international exchange opportunities. Her career also includes senior research leadership positions at American University’s School of International Service and George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.

Dr. Taylor’s early career was grounded in her expertise in Middle East political, economic, and security issues. She began as a professor in the Near Eastern Studies Department at Princeton University and a fellow at Harvard’s Olin Center for Strategic Studies before transitioning to policy work at the RAND Corporation. She has lived and worked extensively throughout the Middle East, including in Egypt, Jordan, and Iran, and has published on a broad range of topics related to governance, nation-building, and international relations.
