Representatives from Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada Visit the ILI

On September 2, 2022, the International Law Institute welcomed a delegation from the Verkhovna Rada for a discussion on the topic of Effective Governance through a sound legal infrastructure.

The esteemed delegation, led by Artem Yanchuk, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also included Svitlana Mishura, Deputy Head of the Main Legal Department; Tetiana Stefiuk, Head of the Secretariat of the First Deputy Speaker; and Lesia Savchenko, Acting Head of the Legislation Institute. The members of the delegation are all part of a recently established Research and Drafting Center. Their visit to Washington DC to support and develop the new Center was arranged by the American Councils for International Education.

ILI Chairman Prof. Don Wallace Jr. led the discussion. He was joined by Arthur Rynearson, former Deputy Legislative Counsel, U.S. Senate, and Roy Brownell Jr., former Deputy Chief of State to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The discussion centered on the U.S. Constitution, the legal profession, and the U.S. Congress.
